Corporate Social Responsibility
Initial believes strongly in behaving responsibly towards people and the planet.
All Initial businesses, including our principle washrooms, textiles and facilities services aim to create positive impact on environments and play a key role in the communities in which we operate.
Our strong Corporate and Social Responsibility credentials are recognised by inclusion in the top 100 of the UK Business in the Community Index and the Dow Jones Sustainability Index.
Initial would like to highlight just some of our worldwide activities in local communities and businesses.
- In Australia, Initial offer community sponsorship towards projects that target youth and the environment. We’re working with a number of schools on a range of educational ‘green’ projects.
- In the UK, we are one of very few organisations to gain a national contract with the government Learning and Skills Council to deliver Vocational Qualifications, Apprenticeships and Basic Skills - including numeracy and literacy – nationwide.
- Initial Facilities Services work to keep our employees for the long-term: at Barclays in London's Canary Wharf we employ over 50 full-time cleaners whose terms & conditions set a new benchmark for the industry.
- We are a founder sponsor of the Safer London Foundation (Safer London Foundation), aimed at significantly contributing to the reduction of fear of crime in the capital through community projects.
- Initial is an active sponsor of a range of programmes, including the Daintree Rainforest Rescue where our support has helped a ‘buy back forever’ initiative to protect and enhance one of Australia’s most sensitive natural environments.
- Our corporate R&D resources are constantly developing products and services with reduced impact on the wider environment.
