Mould: A Silent Health Threat in the Workplace

High-rise offices in the city center can become breeding grounds for various species of mould. As enclosed spaces where air conditioning runs almost continuously while the office is occupied, they often lack adequate ventilation—a situation exacerbated by hot weather and persistent air pollution, including year-round PM2.5 issues. This lack of airflow leads to dampness, creating an environment that fosters mould growth and proliferation.

Initial Hygiene experts carried out mould remediation in five faculty offices within the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University. 

As the mould infestation was widespread across the walls and ceilings, the team employed a combination of steam treatment and the application of a high-performance anti-mould agent via Ultra-Low Volume (ULV) misting to thoroughly coat all surfaces. After allowing sufficient time for the chemical to take effect and halt the spread of the mould, the air quality was improved using InspireAir 72 air purifiers, finally returning the offices to the faculty members for normal use.
