The Australian Open has renewed its partnership with global hygiene brand Initial as the Official Hygiene Partner of AO22.
The Australian Open returned in 2022 with a full Grand Slam program, signalling to the world that Australia is back in business as a host of world-class sporting events. The global tournament’s plans to operate safely at full capacity were realised in large part thanks to the appointment of Initial – the world’s leading hygiene company – as its trusted partner-of-choice to protect fan, player and staff safety.
As a world-class event, we required a world-class hygiene partner,” Tennis Australia Chief Revenue and Experiential Officer Ben Slack said. “Staging a safe and enjoyable Australian Open for players, fans and staff is of paramount importance to us, particularly as we navigate the ongoing challenges of COVID-19. Initial is the global leader in the provision of hygiene services and solutions, and the natural choice to enable us to create the safest environment possible.”
The partnership saw Initial supply the best in hand, surface and air hygiene protection with hundreds of easily accessible touchless hand sanitiser and disinfection wipe stations across the AO precinct as well as the installation of VIRUSKILLERTM air purification devices across crucial indoor spaces to keep the air clean, hygienic and safer for spectators, players and staff.
“We are honoured and proud to have been selected by Tennis Australia for the second year running as its Official Hygiene Partner. We are confident that in partnership with Tennis Australia, the delivery of our market-leading 360-degree approach to hygiene management – including hand, surface and air hygiene – will provide important reassurance to all in attendance that their safety will be expertly safeguarded throughout the 14-day event” Andrew Stone, Managing Director, Pacific, Rentokil Initial
Enhanced hygiene practices, along with rigorous and frequent cleaning across the site, particularly in high risk and high touch surfaces and common areas, are a key part of the AO COVIDSafe plan to ensure the safety of everyone onsite.
