What is a disinfection service?

A disinfection service involves using chemicals or other agents to kill germs, bacteria, and viruses on surfaces. This is typically done to prevent illness and maintain a clean and hygienic environment. Disinfection is critical during the COVID-19 pandemic, as the virus can remain on surfaces for several days and be transmitted through contact with contaminated surfaces.

One of the main reasons to book a professional disinfection service is to ensure that the disinfection process is thorough and effective. Professional disinfection companies have the knowledge, experience, and specialised equipment to disinfect a space and reduce the risk of cross-contamination properly.

In a poll carried out by Rentokil Initial in 2020, 86% of people were concerned about the risk of the virus spreading through using door handles. Disinfection treatments typically focus on high-touch areas, as these are the surfaces that are most likely to be contaminated with bacteria and viruses. These can include doorknobs, handrails, counters, and other surfaces frequently touched by people.

Why book a Professional Disinfection Service?

Professional disinfection services typically follow a specific process to ensure that all surfaces are adequately cleaned and disinfected. This may include thoroughly cleaning the space to remove dirt and grime and applying a disinfectant to kill any remaining germs. The disinfectant may be applied using a spray, fogging machine, or other methods, depending on the size and layout of the space.

In addition to helping to prevent the spread of illness, professional disinfection services can also help to maintain a clean and hygienic environment. This is particularly important in hospitals, schools, and other public spaces where many people gather.

Overall, booking a professional disinfection service can help to ensure that a space is properly cleaned and disinfected, reducing the risk of cross-contamination and helping to prevent the spread of illness.

What chemicals and tools will the disinfection team use?

The chemicals and tools used by a disinfection team will depend on the specific requirements of the job and the type of surfaces being treated. Professional disinfection services use various disinfectant products that effectively kill many bacteria and viruses, including the COVID-19 virus. Depending on the size and layout of the space being treated, these disinfectants may be applied using various methods, such as spraying, fogging, or wiping.

In addition to disinfectant products, a disinfection team may use other tools and equipment to clean and disinfect surfaces. This may include microfiber cloths or wipes, scrub brushes, and other cleaning tools to remove dirt and grime from surfaces before disinfecting.

Can people be on the premises during disinfection?

As for whether people can be on the premises during disinfection will depend on the specific requirements of the job and the safety guidelines in place; in some cases, it may be necessary for people to vacate the premises while the disinfection process is underway, mainly if the space being treated is small or if the disinfectant being used is not safe for people to be around. In other cases, it may be possible for people to remain on the premises while the disinfection is being carried out as long as appropriate safety measures are in place.

It is essential to follow the guidelines and instructions provided by the professional disinfection team to ensure the safety of everyone involved. This may include wearing protective gear, such as masks and gloves, and following any other safety protocols that have been put in place. Once the disinfection process has been completed, and the treated surfaces have had a chance to dry, it is generally safe for people to return to the space.
